The CNFHL, after a prolonged absence related to the commissioner having to attend school (and no, not John school), is due to return in just over a week's time.
Gratz....... :)
After two pathetic performances at home (0-5 and 2-5 losses) , the Citadels players finally found a way to even the series to 2 games each and will come back to Halifax with a positive momentum. Now it is time for them to show that the Home Ice advantage is a fact and to offer the fans who have waited a way too long while for a won series ! The last two wins came despite the awful level of the 2nd line wingers Dahlgren and Prodix who combined for -10 and 42 PIM for only 1 goal (for the Right Winger) and 1 assist (for the Left winger) so far in the playoffs.
The CNFHL is happy to announce that one of their available franchises, the Vernon Lakers, has been sold off to Marcel Smolders. Marcel has decided to ship the team, the newly named Mice, off to play in the Maple Ridge Mousetrap in British Columbia. He has also established the team's farm team affliation with the Rodents. Please join us in welcoming Marcel to the league.
In order to pay for the recent stadium addition the Rattlers have bumped their tickets up by just $1. "It was as little as we could go and cover our costs"' said Calvin MacInnis, stadium super. "We have found a way to keep the North End Dogs as well, so that should help pacify fans a bit."
A Terrible Start, theres no other way to put it.
5 Games played.....6 Goals for....Thats just above 1 Goal for /game. How can you win you ask? Well unless your golaie gets a shutout everynight, you can't.
And thats not to say the Pens Goalie Jeff Lauzon hasnt been stellar. Yes hes allowed less than 3 goals/ game with a decent average and 1 shut out, but hes only facing on average 23 shots/game. Things have to imporve and fast.
In a rare move, the YellowKnife Blizzard sent out Star D man ERIC CARTMAN to the trade frenzied Montreal Thunder. Interm GM R Gics was asked what the move would do for the rebuilding BLIZZARD.
"It was a Future deal, we got three great young players with even greater potential. ERIC was unhappy here, and it showed. He didn't like being on a team thatwas in a rebuilding process and he made it known around here."
This trade puts the FA team of the THUNDER in a great place. They have made numerous deals to solidify the team for this season in hopes of making a long run into the playoffs.
The Montreal Thunder wasted no time in make changes for the up coming season. If this move is any indicator its all about youth in Montreal. The deal looks like this. Leaving Montreal is veteran center Derek Gibson, goaltender Johannes Viitasalo and the Thunder 3rd round pick this year. The loss of Gibson at center is tough; this talented forward with veteran playoff experience is priced right and will be a big hole to fill. In return the newest Montreal players are as follows. Jeff Coupal a speedy two-way winger that is known for his great playmaking ability.
