Breaking News…

The Jasper Mountaineers have just completed a deal that reunites Billy Jags with the team that drafted him. The trade brings super star Billy Jags and young tough guy Marty Castronova to the Mountaineers in exchange for newly acquire Graeme Story and star winger Tom Sadenko.

This is what the Jasper general manager had to say about the deal. “This was a good deal for both teams. The Citadels get a star winger who brings a more rounded skill set. They also get Story who can log a lot of quality minutes and a force on the PP. This deal really worked for us too. Jags is a player with remarkable skills and will be relied upon heavily to produce offensively. Castronova brings some toughness and is establishing himself as a tough stay at home defenseman. This deal was only possible because of Lufkin and Garcia taking most of our quality minutes on defense. Graeme Story just would not see the ice-time he deserves as a top defenseman in this league. This deal really rounds out our forwards and defense. I can now focus on the draft and free agency. With the number of retirements some teams will have huge chunks of salary cap space available so I expect top free agents will get top dollars.”

Jasper will now turn there attention to the draft and who will be the next Mountaineer? The annual Mountaineer Draft preview is expected to be released later this week.
